Welcome to Lipstick and Lightplay.  My name is Victoria (or Vikki, or Vix) I'm a 28 year old Canadian woman living in England for the past ten years.  I work in your standard office job by day, and spend my spare time right here blogging about what really makes me happy - primarily beauty and style.

I have a real passion for skincare and cosmetics, and believe that makeup artistry is aptly name as it truly is an art form.  I think that makeup and personal style are an excellent form of self-expression, and aside from that I have to be honest and say that I love all the pretty colours!  I also like to dip my toe into fashion-blogging, and spend more hours than I would care to admit putting together outfits and collections in Polyvore.  Personally I am plus-size and as such try to cater a good proportion of said fashion posts to the curvier among us - and I'm always on the hunt for the next big plus size fashion brand.

I've been blogging on and off for years, starting with the oldschool personal websites and livejournals and then finally making the foray into beauty-blogging in around 2008.  Real life took over and I put it on the back burner - now that I'm back, though, it doesn't even feel like I ever left.

I have something of a dark sense of humor sometimes, and I specialize in the sarcastic.  In terms of hobbies aside from the blog, I'm a major book-nerd (lately I've been reading a lot of Japanese literature), listen to more Korean pop music than almost anything else, and a horror movie aficionado.  It's my life's dream to one day visit both Japan and Korea, and I'd love to be able to speak the languages by the time that happens.  In the meantime, you can definitely find me at HYPER JAPAN in London every July!

So really, Lipstick and Lightplay, while superficially branded a beauty blog, is really an amalgamation of me.  Which means that while you will probably see more posts about beauty product reviews, makeup hauls and tutorials interspersed with fashion guides, I'd like to think this is more of a lifestyle blog than anything else.  So you will very likely see travel posts, "day-in-the-life" posts on occasion if anything particularly interesting is happening, maybe even the occasional cooking/baking how-to.

As for me, well I'd love to hear from you if there's anything else you'd like to know.  And I'm always happy to hear from people with similar interests.  My contact details are listed in the main blog sidebar so by all means, please send me an email!

Thank you for visiting!
